Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs about opening an XPRESSTRADE account
What's the fastest, easiest way to open a new trading account?
XPRESSTRADE'S unique Electronic Account Application (EAA) allows you to create a personalized set of account forms online, quickly and easily. We'll guide you through a number of questions online, and when you're finished a few minutes later, you'll be able to print your personalized set of account forms, sign them, and drop them in the mail to us here at XPRESSTRADE. If you don't have access to a printer, you can forward your information to us via a secure Internet transmission, and we'll mail your personalized account forms to you by regular post for your review and signature.
How long does it take to open a new account?
Once we've received your signed account forms, we'll send you a User ID, Temporary Password, and Account Number by e-mail or regular mail (depending on which method you selected in the account forms). While we make every effort to open new accounts within 24 hours, transfers from other futures brokerage firms typically take about 5 business days to completewe add your positions and funds to your new XPRESSTRADE account just as soon as they are received from the delivering broker. You can help speed the transfer process by contacting your previous broker and demanding an immediate account transfer.
What types of accounts do you offer?
XPRESSTRADE offers more account types than any other online futures broker. You'll be able to choose from among the following account types: Individual, Individuals Informally Trading Together (Tenants in Common), Joint (Right of Survivorship), Corporate/LLC, Partnership, Trust, Custodial, and IRA. There's an account type for everyone.
Can I open an IRA account at XPRESSTRADE?
Opening an IRA trading account at XPRESSTRADE is a walk in the park! Simply access our Electronic Account Application, and complete an IRA application. Technically, an IRA account is a trust created and maintained for the exclusive benefit of you or your beneficiaries. The IRA must be established with a qualified and independent trustee, and you may not be your own trustee. Thus, you must find a trustee for your IRA account, and you should be sure to verify that the trustee you select allows self-directed commodity futures and options trading. While XPRESSTRADE neither endorses nor recommends any trustee, we do understand that Independent Trust Corporation (Intrust) permits self-directed commodity futures and options trading in IRA accounts. You may wish to visit Intrust's website at www. intrust.com, or contact Intrust at (708) 873-5300.
What is your minimum account size?
Our minimum initial account size is U.S. $5,000. You won't be able to enter your first order at XPRESSTRADE until cleared funds become available in your account, so if you're in a hurry to trade, we recommend that you include a certified check or cashier's check along with your signed account forms. Once your account has been opened, we don't have any minimum balance requirements or account maintenance fees. However, we must insist that your new account be funded, at least initially, with a minimum of U.S. $5,000. Smaller accounts, unfortunately, cannot be accepted.
Do you accept non-U.S. residents as accountholders?
Yes, we welcome traders from around the world, and in fact, XPRESSTRADE clients may be found in more than 65 countries. While we do accept accounts for Canadian citizens, it's important that you read the important message for Canadians, accessible by clicking the maple leaf on our homepage.

We also offer a variety of specialized order entry features designed to make your trading faster and easier, including EZ Offset (to quickly offset current open positions in your account) and Contingent Order Entry (allows you to concurrently submit a primary and up to two contingent orders on a single screen, without the assistance of a human broker).
What is XPRESS Order Routing, and where do my orders go?
XPRESSTRADE has the ability to route many of your orders directlywithout human interventionto electronic trade matching engines (such as Globex2) or electronic order management devices used by floor brokers standing in the trading pits. Fill confirmations on such orders are transmitted back to you using the same high-speed, electronic routing, often in just seconds! Orders in markets where electronic trade matching or electronic broker devices aren't available are transmitted to desks on the trading floors of the exchanges (from which they are "flashed" or run into the pits) or to the XPRESSTRADE Trading Center (from which they are sent to the pits by hotlines). Our goal is to deliver the fastest order execution and fill reporting possible.
How quickly will my orders be filled and reported to me?
Whenever possible, XPRESSTRADE routes your orders directly to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's Globex2 system for electronic execution. Orders and fill confirmations flow directly between your PC and Globex2, with no human intervention. Fill confirmations on market orders are typically reported back to you within seconds. In markets where such equipment is available, we electronically route your orders directly to filling brokers standing in the trading pits near a CUBS (Chicago Mercantile Exchange Universal Broker Station) terminal or EC (Chicago Board of Trade Electronic Clerk) device. Orders sent to these filling brokers flash before them and are automatically organized within their electronic order decks. When the filling broker executes your order and keys the fill information into the electronic device (which may vary in time, depending upon market conditions), a confirmation speeds back to the originating trader within seconds.
What are contingent orders?
XPRESSTRADE is the first and only Internet futures broker to give you the ability to enter a primary order and up to two contingent orders simultaneously, totally on your own, without having to rely upon a human broker! This feature is ideal when you'd like the XPRESSTRADE system to automatically place a stop order for protection or a limit order at your profit objective after your primary order's been filled. Contingent orders may be entered either at an exact price or at a specified distance from the price at which your primary order is executed. When your primary order has been executed and the fill has been reported to the XPRESSTRADE system, your contingent orders are immediately activated. Electronic contingent order entry is an XPRESSTRADE exclusive.
Will I see my account information in real-time?
XPRESSTRADE provides you with one-click access to real-time account information, so you always know where your account stands. Each time you trade or the market ticks up or down, the XPRESSTRADE system automatically recalculates and updates your open positions, margin requirements, P&L, money balances, and trading power. Many online futures brokers only provide you with your account statements as of the close of business on the previous trading day. At XPRESSTRADE, your account is continuously updated throughout the day, giving you an up-to-the-minute, accurate view of your account.
What commissions will I incur?
XPRESSTRADE offers a unique commission rebate program for futures traders which differs from the rates you'd pay at other brokers in two important ways: First, whenever you submit a market orderwhether you're a daytrader or a long-term position traderyou'll save on commissions. And second, our commission rates automatically decline as your trading volume increasesthe more you trade, the more you save! Combined, these two unique practices put more money in your pocket. Our standard commission rate is $12 per contract per side, and depending upon your trading volume and the type of orders you use, you could pay as little as just $8 per contract per side. Best of all, our commissions include free, unlimited futures and options quotes for every accountholderregardless of your account size and trading volumea savings of at least $150/month.
Are there any other hidden fees?
In general, our fees are far more modest than those that you might expect to find at many of our rivals. In addition to our commission charge, you'll pay actual exchange and NFA fees, as well as a modest floor brokerage fee of $1 per side, each time you trade. But we charge no fee for unlimited, real-time quotes. No add-on fees to trade the overnight markets or to trade at non-U.S. futures exchanges. No fee for check requests. No fee for wire transfers of $2,500 or more. No fee to purchase T-Bills in your account. No account maintenance, postage, or document fees. And, of course, when you connect to us via the Internet, you don't pay any user or connect-time fees.
Do you pay interest on my account equity?
XPRESSTRADE is registered as a futures broker, not as a securities broker, and therefore we are not permitted to offer money-market products. However, we recognize that you may wish to use Treasury Bills to satisfy margin requirements, and therefore, we allow you to place 100% of your account total equity into such instruments. We execute customer T-Bill purchase ordersthe minimum T-Bill purchase is $10,000, with larger T-Bills available in $10,000 incrementson the weekly U.S. government auction, and because we pool our weekly T-Bill orders to achieve a more favorable fee structure from our banking institution, we can purchase T-Bills for you at no charge.
